Without a doubt, obedience is more meritorious than any other penance.
How do we know that there is a God? That he is living? How can we prove that we are worshiping the true God? There are some false prophets who have spoken falsely in God's name. In his teachings, Jesus has told us that we are following the true God if we have love....

Saved By Gentleness
I come from a Mass honoring Mother Mary when I reach the intersection and make a left turn. In keeping with a harried and ultra-feminist lifestyle, I would have made any turn or any driving move with a hard driving style, pummeling down on the gas and making accelerated changes when I can, never giv...

Are you ready for the end?
People may scare us with talk about the End Times or some terrible tragedy that could befall humanity. Sure, we need to be diligent, but we need to be ever more focused on our possible end. Our life could end at any moment. It happens all of the time. And no one has yet to live forever … apart f...

Mary and Prayer
There are many things to learn from our Blessed Mother. And she certainly was a woman of prayer. She cried out to God in many times of need. And I’m sure she must have prayed for others too. And what better gift to give to others than the gift of prayer?...

Day 22 – No sign will be given and the family of Jesus
Today we see the Scribes and Pharisees ask Jesus for a sign. Jesus refuses to give a sign. Instead, He says the only sign that will be given is the “sign of Jonah”. That like Jonah spent three days in the belly of the whale, so the Son of Man will spend three days in the belly of the earth....

On Petitionary Prayer
To the outsider, Christian doctrine gives the appearance of having many contradictions. A common example concerns the Christian practice of petitionary prayer. The objection goes something like this, “If God is omniscient, omnipotent and omnibenevolent, then why would we pray to Him?...

What you do is what matters, not what you think or say or plan.
“Words” and “works” flow from the relationship of the Father and the Son. Jesus mentions both “words” and “works” in this Gospel passage, but focus here on the “works” He refers to: “The Father who dwells in me is doing His works.”...

How Do I Earn Salvation?
The other day, I got a message from a friend who had attended a Non-Catholic event where she had an encounter with a Born Again. She had been confronted by the “once you have accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you are saved and cannot lose that salvation” belief....

"Iuvenes pro Traditione": Cristina
Hello again! If you haven’t seen it yet, welcome to Iuvenes pro Traditione series (or at least a series of articles to bring awareness to it). This time I’ll be sharing the thoughts of my friend Cristina, 21-year old laywoman. A beautiful lady, a solid, orthodox Catholic and I think you’ll love her ...

Rock On!
Confession. Recently on the way back from a long trip I was spinning through the radio dial. Amidst a range of talk radio, jazz, classic, worship and hits...I did stop for two songs that in former days would have really captivated me: "For Those About to Rock" by ACDC, and "Foolin" by Def Leppard....

Let nothing disturb you, nothing cause you fear. All things pass; God is unchanging. Patience obtains all
In the Gospel reading, part of Jesus' parting discourse after the Last Supper, Jesus assures his disciples and us that there are many places reserved for us in his Father's house. Always ready to question, Thomas asks, "Lord, we don't know where you are going; how can we know the way?"...

Longing for "Eternal Easter"
Merely days ago, I graduated, at long last, with my Masters in Theology. Treasuring as I do all that I learned, the professors that taught me, and my classmates, all of whom became friends, the graduation itself, while welcomed, was also bittersweet in that it was an ending of a process and way-of-l...

Life's most urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'
In the Gospel reading Jesus stresses that "the servant is not greater than his master, nor is the messenger greater than he who sent him." At the same time Jesus said that, for him, leadership is shown in service, "If someone wants to be first, let him be last of all and servant of all." (Mk 9: 35)...

The first shall be last and the last shall be first.
Now, this has nothing to do with showing up late to Mass. I am pretty sure that God prefers you be there early. It may be better to ask, are we pushing others down in order to be raised up? At first, we may not see where/if we do this. A good test would be to check our humility....
