The world can create trouble in peace, but God can create peace in trouble.
In this gospel Jesus says: “My peace I give to you.” Notice the emphasis on “my peace.” By saying these words about peace, Jesus is teaching us that His peace is something different from other forms of peace. There is a difference between what we think of peace and the real peace that comes from Him...

5 good minutes with God - Climb the mountain to hear God
Being extremely high off the ground is a rare opportunity for most people. Have you ever had the chance to visit an observation deck of a skyscraper like the Empire State building in New York or the Hancock Tower in Chicago?...

Fruits of The Holy Spirit
Happiness is found in so many different facets of life. One of my favorites is to grow a sapling and nurture it and watch it grow into a strong beautiful tree. The summit of that happiness is seen when the tree produces fruit....

Can married People be Saints? - My year of walking with Saints
As I mentioned in my last post I spent the better part of Christmas 2015 watching movies about Saints. I know that is what we are all called to be, that our ultimate goal is heaven, so I thought it would be good to see how these Saints lived their lives....

Feast of the Ascension. A Key that Unlocks the Meaning of Life
There are no answers to the questions about our futures. Everything seems a “little while” within which we want clarity and the security of answers. Even when answers arrive, they lead only to further future knockings. The “little while” for these disciples ended in the “rejoicing” of the Resurre...

Dionysius was pope from July 22, 259 to December 26, 268. He was possibly Greek, but we are not sure. As a younger man, he was well educated and of a bright mind....

Evaluation Day--Mother's Day!!
We are all great parents doing the best we can in the circumstances of life—but sometimes best is not enough and that is where our Faith comes in. Faith that tells us that no matter what happens in life to us—to them---all the pieces and details come together to bring about the fulfillment of our “i...

The Bible....Love letter from God
1. The Bible is NOT a history book. The Bible is the story of God’s relationship to His people. 2. The Bible is a Catholic book. That’s right, a Catholic book. The Catholic Church, which was the original Christian Church founded by Christ and built on the rock of our first Pope, Peter....

Why Mary on Mother's Day?
Mother's Day, May 8, 2016, and I sit here thinking of my own wonderful mother. I owe her so very much for all she has done for me and my sister in her nearly 89 years. And then I think of my wife who is mother of our three children. Nancy, too, has done so very much for our daughter and two sons....

I Walked and Talked with Jesus and Mary Today---So Did You
Rather at Mass, or saying the Rosary—or just going about daily life—we walk and talk with God, the Blessed Mother, all the saints and angels and the poor souls in purgatory too. In the Presence of Love and Eternal Light ---we are in the Presence of all these Beings who love to spend time with us....

I tend to complain too much
I stay pretty busy as a deacon in my diocese. When I am not serving at my parish, I usually am serving somewhere else, or preaching the Mission Appeal for the Pontifical Mission Society through our diocese (I have 4 parish assignments per year, so I am preaching at least 4 times a year, multiply tha...

There is Emptiness: Before Our Genesis
"To preach is to live" This is my personal motto, it is my life guide. Think about this, "a man without Jesus is like a river without water. Lifeless". We live in a world where we have forgotten, "You should not have other gods besides me" (Deuteronomy 4:7)....

Decisions, Decisions
The parenting gig is overflowing with choices. Should one of us stay home with the tiny humans or should we send them to daycare? Should we use positive parenting techniques or should we smack their booties like the so-called "tried and true" method our parents' used? Should we feed them all organic...

Movie Review: God's Not Dead, 1 and 2
My husband and I went to both movies, "God's Not Dead" and both were terrific with amazingly real messages. In the first movie, it takes place at a college where a philosophy professor makes all the students sign a piece of paper saying that God is dead and sign it in order to eradicate this issue f...

Call Me Cupid Part 2-Conflict Resolution in Marriage
I love my husband. He's the one I get to experience life with and it is always such an adventure. He comforts me after a rough day at work and he takes care of me when I'm sick. We've been ziplining, kayaking, rafting, and skiing together. Our favorite thing to do though is going out for a good meal...

The Eucharist is the Sacrament of Love; It signifies Love, It produces love.
There is no need for multiple tabs and reference books. No need for strategy sessions. Or perhaps there is a need for a certain kind of strategy, which is to be ever aware of God’s love for us so we can love one another. Such a simple and such a demanding commandment....
