Know What I'm Saying?
I went to a presentation on Human Trafficking recently and walked away both shaken and encouraged. I was shaken by the reality of slavery in our midst, but I was also comforted by the fact that there are strong, intelligent, well-organized human beings doing incredible work to end this evil practice...

"Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely."
The result of this little story in this gospel is generosity, God works a great miracles through generosity....

Are You Afraid of Truth?
There seem to be many of us today that are afraid to speak Truth. We are fearful that the Truth of our Faith might be harsh to some, and it may cause many to turn away from Christ. We are fearful that the Truth might be offensive....

The Parable of the Eight Unclean Spirits and the Eight Kings of the Beast
A surprising support of our theology can be found in the parable of the unclean spirits in Matthew chapter 12. In this Gospel, an unclean spirit who inhabits a house is cast out, and the house is swept; later, the spirit returns with seven others that are even worse than the original, and the house ...

In the face of blatant evil we should be indignant not tolerant, angry, not apathetic. If God hates sin, His people should hate sin too. If evil arouses His anger, it should arouse ours too. What other reaction can wickedness be expected to provoke in those who love God?
Acting in anger, or fostering anger in oneself or others, certainly can be a sin. But Jesus acts in anger in this Gospel passage, and with good reason....

A Call to All of My Catholic Brothers....Put'er There, Bro!
In my mind’s eye I picture the old Bugs Bunny cartoon where the big rough guy, with his 5 o’clock shadow and the stubby cigar, grabs Bugs’ hand for a shake and squeezes it so hard that Bugs’ hand crushes and each finger sticks out and starts throbbing....

Answering Objections to the Apocalypse 20 Thousand-Year Reign as the Age of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart
I would like now to deal with what would be common objections to the theology that argues that the dragon scenes of apocalypse image the entire divine plan with special focus on the Church age, and that the Millennium of Apocalypse 20 can image the coming Age of Peace of Our Lady....

If My People
Wow---what a mess. Our country has been through three types of fires in the past week and more so in the past two years. The fire of anger that sends out sparks that are igniting other fires in the lives of others....

"Emphasize reconciliation, not resolution. It is unrealistic to expect everyone to agree about everything. Reconciliation focuses on the relationship, while resolution focuses on the problem. When we focus on reconciliation, the problem loses significance and often becomes irrelevant."
If for one unfortunate reason or another, we abandon the Lord by sinning, we know that the Lord, in his infinite love and mercy, will seek us out to return to him. He untiringly and gently speaks to us, even if many times we reject him....

Why must I go to Church? Isn't my being good enough?
Many who do not follow the practice of Roman Catholics attending Mass often say, “why is it a sin to miss church services?” We go whenever possible, but a sin to not attend? Glad we’re not in your shoes!...

Why Can the Church Still Rise? Why Now? Why Not in the Subsequent Darkness?
Our theology of the ages provides profound reasons why the Church can still emerge from our current darkness but not the next [at the end of time]....

He who created us without our help will not save us without our consent.
St. Paul states in this first reading: “work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” This command speaks clearly of the centrality of human effort in the spiritual life....

What does Batman have in common with the widow in the Gospel reading for November 11th? Although the comic book hero may not have much in common with her, many of the “batmen” who served the officers of the British army share her generous and giving heart....
