Parenting and Mass Hysteria
Over many years we've walked many miles with many families. Our shared goal: Form our children to be intentional disciples of Jesus Christ. Become the best versions of ourselves. Sainthood. Heaven....

The Road to Emmaus: Image of the Jewish Failure to Recognize Christ as Messiah?
Christ’s Old Body and events of the Gospel before the Resurrection filled up and fulfilled all that is of the Old Covenant, the Laws, the history. At the Cross, His Body, and thereby all things Old, were put to death and abolished....

We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are.
Mankind needs Christ. We would be incomplete without Christ. We love the world and because we love the world we want to bring Christ to the world because we know the world needs Christ....

Day 10 – Three "Simple" Teachings
As is common with many things in the bible we often remember the sayings but loose some of the nuance. That is why reading scripture is a vital part of our spiritual development. Repetition, informed by the Holy Spirit, helps us learn again the subtle but important distinctions Jesus is making....

The Poor
Previously I wrote two reflections on poverty and they encompass the poor in a way that should move our sense of compassion for those who are disenfranchised and cannot speak for themselves....

Pope Saint Symmachus, The Pope Who Almost Wasn't
Pope Symmachus is, unfortunately, more well known for the difficulty he had holding on to his reign than for the things he did to earn him the name "saint". He was alive during difficult times....

In Appreciation of My Stay-at-Home Wife... Who Works Harder Than I Do
I recently returned from paternity leave to my role as a Catholic schoolteacher. This was in the midst of my wife Bernadette and me welcoming our fourth child, Dominique Marie McClain, on Sunday, March 26....

May Is For Mary
As we enter this month of May, we think about Mother's Day, but we also should be thinking about Mary. She is especially honored during this month. May Crownings often take place. Special emphasis is put on the Rosary. And there are other ways to honor our Heavenly Mother....

The problem with the prosperity gospel is that it makes prosperity the Gospel. God's word is flawless, however if your interpretation of the word is wrong, your application will be wrong also.
In our Gospel reading today, Jesus missions his friends: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” And they did that. They went to lands far and near and shared the Good News with people rich and poor, thin and fat, fair and dark skinned....

Day 9 – Do Not Be Anxious
In today’s reading Jesus tells us we should not worry about where and how we will obtain our food and clothing, for if God so lavishly adorns the birds and flowers, how much more will he care for us, who are his children made in his own image....

"Iuvenes pro Traditione": Adrian
Strictly speaking, I’m a cradle Catholic, meaning I was baptized as a Catholic as an infant in the 1980’s, but given the apostasy in place of my family, I didn’t start to truly practice the Catholic faith sincerely and in any way correctly until my 30’s....

Poverty II
Sometime in February 2015 I wrote a reflection on Poverty with two accompanying poems. One poem had to do with the personal acceptance of seeking a life without attachment to any type of material possessions; i.e. the choice of finding a connection to God without distractions of competing with ones...

No one can begin a new life, unless he repent of the old.
The first sacrament in the Church is baptism, the sacrament of initiation. In baptism we are freed from the sin of Adam, receive God's gift of grace and become members of his Church; we receive the gift of faith, the Holy Spirit and the promise of eternal life. Without baptism we cannot receive the ...

Day 8 – Our Father
When of the most fascinating and important parts of the prayer is the line, “Give us this day our daily bread”. The word used for “daily bread” is epiousios. What is interesting about this word is that it is seldom used in Greek. In fact, scholars can find no example of its use in any ancient writ...

Poverty
I often wonder about evil, its existence and the effect it has upon so many people. If we think about evil and attempt to categorize the many different threads that are connected to this one abstract, yet real obtrusiveness in human history, we could absolutely go berserk in trying to list them....

"Iuvenes pro Traditione": Noelia
Hi, my name is Noelia, and for all intents and purposes I’m a traditional Catholic. It all happened so fast, I vaguely remember befriending a traditionalist and then into the deep dark world of “smells and bells” I went....
