"I am the Bread of Life" - Jesus
"I am the Bread of Life". This seems like an odd expression. Why would God consider Himself food? Well, we need food for our life. But, Jesus is not talking about mortal life, He is talking about eternal life....

Why is discipline important? Discipline teaches us to operate by principle rather than desire. Saying no to our impulses puts us in control of our appetites rather than vice versa.
Who among us likes discipline? This is not the discipline of our earthly father, but that of our heavenly Father. When we know we need to change, there's an internal stress within our hearts, the old person trying to let the new person come out....

Wresting Opportunity Out of the Jaws of Crisis
The two words feel connected. Crisis and Opportunity. Despite the long-term error inherent in the claim that the Chinese character for crisis signifies opportunity, our own experience can reveal the law of contradiction expressed in the paradoxical relationship....

Something Different for Lent
Every year, we focus on what we’ll give up for Lent—an admirable practice. Mastering passions by denying ourselves is a good thing—but the ultimate goal of penance (of any spiritual practice) is to draw us closer to God....

Boast Only in the Lord
I wonder how transformed our lives could be if instead of proclaiming our pride in accomplishments, achievements and possessions, we felt thankful and blessed?...

Catholicism As An Ethnicity
Growing up as a Catholic teenager in today's society, I have noticed a somewhat disturbing trend among my peers. It takes "cafeteria Catholicism" to a whole new level and can be even more damaging to how the Church is represented: the identification of their Catholic faith as part of their ethnicity...

Sanctify yourself and you will sanctify society.
Even though at times we may feel alone in running the narrow road that Jesus has opened before us, the truth is that we have a “great” cloud of saints surrounding us—that means in front, behind, above, and on both sides of us. We are running a race in an arena that is packed with fans on every side,...

The Skinny on Modest Wedding Gowns: 5 Ways to Achieve Modesty for the Matrimonial Mass
In 2006, it was hard for me to find any gown with sleeves. Everything was strapless. When Kate Middleton married in 2011, her wedding gown sleeves showed the world that modesty is regal, elegant, and breathtakingly beautiful. Yeah, that lasted about two years before bodice type gowns with sleeves be...

Can we make room for God in our daily lives?
Our 21st century world does not like to talk about religion, and what just few years ago, was considered as inherent to the person as their personal beliefs, nowadays is a taboo in our job environments and schools’ communities....

The Church has Caught Nothing All Night: It'll probably stay that way till Chastisement
It is in the night when persons live totally according to the fall. And when you do not accept any Divine Truth, you are living according to the fall. When you accept no Divine Revelation and, worse, not even Natural Truth, or Reason, you are completely blind spiritually. This is the Euro Civs world...

Mercy, Justice, and the Personhood of Christ
I'm sure we've all heard the saying "Jesus is a person." We know just by that statement what the person saying it means: Jesus has a personality, he has feelings, he has convictions. He has everything that makes us Human....

Very few people believe in the devil these days, which suits the devil very well.
There seems to be a lot of curiosity about demons from popular culture, but it is important to remember that, "the power of Satan is, nonetheless, not infinite. He is only a creature, powerful from the fact that he is pure spirit, but still a creature. He cannot prevent the building up of God's reig...

A Letter to Our Young Girls
"The problem of pornography is that it does not reveal too much of a woman but too little." St. John Paul II said that. It’s quite fascinating to find such a humble and deeply Catholic Pope quote on a subject that is not only taboo but extremely hard to talk about in context....

Morning Breakfast Time
Every morning we come to the table, ---to feast off the Word of God. Or at least we should. We know how essential it is to eat food to have the ability to function the rest of the day. More important is the consumption of that Spiritual Food or the Word of God to sustain us through all that will c...

Questions Answered: Mary, Mother of God and Queen of Heaven
Protestants typically have a difficult time with the titles of Mother of God and Queen of Heaven in reference to Mary. Each one I have spoken to seems to want to qualify the terms, to a certain degree this has merit, but they come off sounding accusatory towards Catholics....

True Freedom is not about the fact that we can choose, it is about how and what we choose. Freedom will never be found in decisions that are made against God and against the Natural Law. The struggle of this age is between anarchic freedom and authentic freedom.
The beatitudes can seem sort of oxymoronic. How will the meek lead? Leadership usually comes to the bold. We see injustice around us every day. How are those who hunger for justice satisfied? Where is the comfort for the mourning?...
